Loran T. Brinker was born September 23, 1906 in Elizabethtown, Sand Creek Twsp, Bartholomew Co, Indiana. He was the second child of John Kennedy Brinker and Henrietta Stevens.

In 1921, Loran, age 15, was living with his parents at 1715 Washington St. Columbus, Bartholomew Co. Indiana. He was working as a helper at the Black Cat Coal & Lime Co. in Columbus, Ind. Source: 1921 Columbus Directory
