John's Childhood

John Kennedy Brinker was born July 2, 1869 the eighth child of James Morgan Brinker and Mary Ann Chambers. He was born near the community of Burnsville in Rock Creek Twsp, Bartholomew Co, Indiana, about ten miles east of Columbus, Indiana on Hwy 46.

The original Meeting was a log cabin about two mile north of town and was a station for the underground rail road during the Civil War.

November 18, 1901 John Kennedy Brinker married Ella Matilda Millencamp in Elizabethtown, Bartholomew Co. Ind. Ella was the daughter of John Herman Louis Millencamp and Mary Catherine Turk Source: Bartholomew Co. Marriage records 1850-1920 book C-15 pg 158

Columbus Evening Republican Obituary: Mrs. John Brinker, age 18 years died last night at 10 PM at her home in Elizabethtown. Funeral tomorrow morning from the residence. Burial in the Newsome Cemetery near Elizabethtown, Indiana.

May 9, 1903 John Kennedy Brinker married Henrietta "Etta" Stevens in Elizabethtown, Bartholomew Co. Ind. Henrietta was the daughter of George W. Stevens and Nancy Ann Lane. She was born in 1886 Source: Bartholomew Co. Marriage records 1850-1920 book C-15 pg 347
